High-index lenses
High-index lenses are a special type of lenses that are more efficient at refracting light to correct vision. The lens index refers to the materialās ability to refract light and the amount of material needed to do so. High index glasses are thus glasses with superior refractive capabilities, able to reach a prescription power with less material compared to traditional lenses, making for a lighter lens. High index lenses are made through a complex manufacturing process and lens treatment that requires expert craftsmanship, and as such, the high-index lens cost is significantly higher than standard lenses.
