Visual acuity, meaning the eye’s ability to distinguish details at a standard distance, is measured through a visual acuity test often used to diagnose common refractive errors and detect changes in vision over time. In an eye acuity test, the patient is asked to read lines from a chart at a distance covering one eye at a time to assess their refractive error for a more precise diagnosis.
